Director, Risk Assessment

The Nuclear Energy Institute is currently seeking an experienced director to manage and coordinate industry activities addressing probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) standards and methods development that address industry needs.

This position is responsible for PRA peer review coordination, risk informed regulation, severe accident management guidance, and new plant risk frameworks and metrics. The incumbent must apply risk application to other disciplines (e.g. fire protection and seismic) that provide value and safety benefits for the industry. The incumbent is accountable to coordinate assigned working groups as well as direct task forces to assure policy issues are identified and managed to resolution. He or she will have extensive interactions with member companies and outside organizations and therefore must have the ability to communicate, effectively and diplomatically, with all disciplines and levels both outside and within NEI.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s or Master's degree. In addition to educational requirements, the incumbent must have a minimum of five years of experience and a minimum of five years of management experience. He or she must possess specific knowledge in the areas of nuclear plant licensing, probabilistic risk assessment and risk application, and engineering. In addition to the technical, organizational, and managerial skills identified above, the incumbent must possess excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
