Senior Project Manager, Quality Issues & Licensing Actions

The Nuclear Energy Institute is currently seeking an experienced individual to provide project management for generic technical and regulatory issues being addressed by NEI in order to bring these issues to a satisfactory resolution and closure and to monitor issues potentially affecting NEI members.

This position is accountable for the management and coordination of pertinent activities and information concerning one or more generic technical and regulatory issues being addressed by NEI.  Situations may arise where a project manager may be assigned to coordinate or participate with other NEI staff members on a team to address an issue with the objective of bringing the issue to an acceptable resolution.  The incumbent has a responsibility to keep the Director of Operations informed of the status of his/her issues.

Typically, the senior project managers will serve as a task force chairman, which requires the ability to achieve consensus on complex issues. Topical areas include: issues related to quality assurance at operating plants and new plants under licensing or construction; nuclear procurement and commercial grade dedication; 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B, implementation and associated NRC inspection; vendor inspection issues; licensing actions and reporting; and coordination with EPRI, INPO and Standards Development Organizations on quality and licensing related issues.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical or scientific discipline along with a minimum of seven years of industry experience, preferably including utility, NSSS vendor, or regulatory experience related to his/her job function. In addition to the technical skills identified above, the incumbent must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.  He/she must be skilled in persuasion and negotiation/resolution of conflicts and problems.  The incumbent must be able to delegate responsibility and achieve results through industry contacts and task forces. He/she must be able to assess operational, program, staffing, and fiscal needs and be capable of analyzing complex written documents.
