WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Nuclear Energy Institute has elected Donald Brandt, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer at Pinnacle West Capital Corp., to its executive committee. Brandt, who already serves on NEI’s board of directors, also was appointed to the executive committee’s Nominating Committee.
Brandt also serves as the CEO of Arizona Public Service Co., which operates the 4,000-megawatt Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, the nation’s largest nuclear power station, west of Phoenix. In 2009, Palo Verde achieved the second-highest electricity generation total in its 22-year history.
Before joining Pinnacle West in December 2002, Brandt served as senior vice president and chief financial officer at Ameren Corp. in St. Louis. He has more than 25 years of experience in the energy sector.
All U.S. nuclear plant licensees and selected representatives of other companies involved in nuclear technologies are members of the NEI board of directors. The executive committee sets broad policy for the nuclear energy industry.
