Derrick Freeman Joins Nuclear Energy Institute As Senior Director of Legislative Programs
WASHINGTON—Derrick Freeman, a former aide to U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor with extensive experience in energy and environmental policy, has joined the Nuclear Energy Institute as senior director of legislative programs. Freeman served in Pryor’s office for the past four years, first as a legislative assistant and, since last fall, as legislative counsel.

He worked closely with the senator and his chief of staff and legislative director on the legislative agenda, and provided counsel on positions taken on legislative matters. Prior to his service on Capitol Hill, Freeman worked in New York for a number of leading investment firms.

“Derrick will be a tremendous asset to NEI specifically and to the nuclear energy industry in general. He has a rock-solid background in energy, environment and corporate finance that will greatly enhance our interactions with members of Congress and their staffs. I’m delighted that Derrick is joining our team as the nuclear energy industry gears up for a new era of nuclear plant construction,” said Alex Flint, NEI’s senior vice president of governmental affairs.

Freeman earned his law degree from the Howard University School of Law. He is a member of the New York State Bar.
