NEI Elects Energy Future Holdings’ Young Chairman; Crane Is Vice Chair

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Nuclear Energy Institute has elected John F. Young, president and CEO of Energy Future Holdings (EFH), as chairman of its board of directors. He has served as vice chair of the board since May 2011. Christopher M. Crane, president and chief executive officer at Exelon Corp., has been elected vice chair of the board of directors.

Young has served for more than four years as president and CEO at Energy Future Holdings, a Dallas-based energy holding company with a portfolio of competitive and regulated businesses, including TXU Energy, Luminant and Oncor. Before joining EFH, Young spent five years at Exelon Corp. During his tenure at Exelon, he was executive vice president of finance and was responsible for the company’s financial organization. In addition, he served as president of Exelon Generation, where he oversaw the company’s fossil and hydro operations.

Young also serves on the boards of the Edison Electric Institute, USAA, Children's Medical Center in Dallas and the Dallas Citizens Council. He is a member of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Dallas Roundtable and the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation's Corporate Advisory Forum.

Crane is president and chief executive officer of Exelon Corp. and oversees companies with more than 35,000 megawatts of owned generating capacity and 6.6 million electric and natural gas customers in Illinois, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Crane previously served as president and chief operating officer of Exelon Corp. In that role, he oversaw one of the U.S. industry’s largest portfolios of electric generating capacity, with the nation’s largest fleet of nuclear power plants. He directed a broad range of business, including major acquisitions, transmission strategy, cost management initiatives, oversight of capital programs, generation asset optimization and generation development.
