Nuclear Energy Institute Elects Southern Nuclear's Miller to Executive Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Nuclear Energy Institute has elected James H. Miller III, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Southern Nuclear Operating Company, to its executive committee. Members of the executive committee typically serve three-year terms. He also will serve on the NEI board of directors.

Miller is responsible for all operations of Southern Nuclear Operating Company’s six reactors, located in Alabama and Georgia. He also is responsible for new nuclear development initiatives, including the expansion of the Plant Vogtle nuclear power station in eastern Georgia.

Miller was elected president and CEO of Southern Nuclear Operating Company in August 2008, and chairman in October 2008. Previously, he served as senior vice president, compliance officer and general counsel at Georgia Power. He joined Southern Company in 1994.
