In the initial industry executive interactions on addressing the cumulative impact of industry and regulatory actions, The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) has been requested to hold a workshop on Backfitting (Section 50.109 and Section 70.76). The Backfit Workshop will be held on July 9-10 in Washington, D.C. at the NEI offices. The objective is to provide participants with the knowledge and capabilities to identify Backfit situations and the knowledge and confidence to pursue such activities. The workshop will center on the backfitting provision applicable to operating nuclear power plants in 10 C.F.R. 50.109, yet will also discuss backfitting provisions in other regulations, such as Section 70.76. The information will be presented in a classroom style which will include case study reviews.
This workshop should be beneficial to site engineering, licensing and management personnel that are involved with licensing, regulatory and related issues.
