NEI Licensing Forum

The Licensing Forum is the annual meeting of the U.S. nuclear industry’s licensing community.

Collectively, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Industry Licensing experts will discuss perspectives and insights on a wide range of licensing issues.

The discussions will include timely, relevant, informational presentations by the NRC and the industry managers on licensing topics of current interest, such as:

  • Licensing Actions - Process Improvements
  • Ongoing Licensing Issues with Cyber Security
  • Pandemic Planning - Business Continuity and Pre-Planned Licensing Actions
  • Safety Culture - Pilot Status and Next Steps
  • Criticality Analysis Licensing Actions

This year's forum will include breakout sessions on:

  • Progress and Feedback on the Regulatory Issues Resolution Protocol Pilot
  • Facilitating License Amendment Approval
  • Trends in Risk-Informed Requests for Licensing Actions
  • Fire Protection NFPA-0805, Implementation Insights for the Licensing Community
  • Topical Reports Process Improvements and Relationship with Licensing Actions
  • Emergency Preparednes

Who Should Attend

The forum is intended for management, supervisory and staff personnel who work with the NRC on licensing issues.


 

Conference Information

  • Registration and continental breakfast will begin Monday and Tuesday at 7 a.m.
  • Conference sessions will be held at the following times:
  • Monday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • NEI will host a luncheon on Monday and Tuesday, 12-1 p.m.
  • NEI will host a welcoming reception on Monday, 5-7 p.m.
  • Business casual attire is appropriate for the forum.

All rooms are subject to the current occupancy tax. Please guarantee your reservation with a major credit card by Sept. 15, 2009. After this date, the price and room availability are at the discretion of the hotel. Hotel cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to scheduled arrival to avoid a room charge.

Airport
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is a 5 miles from Westin Alexandria Hotel.

Taxi
Taxis will cost approximately $20 one-way from DCA.

Parking
Parking is $20 per day at the Westin.

Direct Shuttle
Super Shuttle is an alternate means of transportation from the airport to the hotel for $11 one-way or $22 round-trip. At Reagan National Airport, follow signs for ground transportation to the Super Shuttle boarding area, curbside at each terminal. A guest service representative will be available to assist you between 6:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.

MetroRail
King Street metro station (blue and yellow lines) is three blocks from the Westin Alexandria. Reagan National Airport also is conveniently located on the same train lines as the hotel. See the WMATA Web site for more details .
