RETS Bases and Background Training Workshop
On Monday, June 24, NEI will host a 1-day training workshop called "RETS-REMP Bases and Background." Registration for this training is in addition to the RETS-REMP workshop and will cost $200.
RETS-REMP Workshop
The RETS-REMP Workshop is a forum to exchange practical experiences and issues related to the Radioactive Effluent Technical Specifications (RETS) and Radiological Environmental Monitoring Programs (REMP) at commercial nuclear power plants. The open format of the meeting allows utility personnel to openly discuss effluent and environmental monitoring issues among themselves and with regulatory personnel from state and federal regulatory agencies. The meeting has historically been attended by NRC personnel from regional offices and NRR/Headquarters.
The workshop focuses on controlling and monitoring radioactivity in effluent releases from nuclear power plants and assessing the environmental consequences of such releases. Structured around a mix of individual presentations and panel discussions, the workshop addresses topics ranging from in-plant and on-site monitoring techniques, environmental sampling and monitoring, and dose assessment to the public and environment. The workshop discussions are timely and applicable to plants currently operating, as well as those undergoing decommissioning, and include topics of interest to proposed new construction of nuclear power plants.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Personnel involved in:
-
Monitoring, sampling and analysis, and control of radioactive effluents released from nuclear power plants
-
Assessment of off-site radiation dose consequences from effluent releases and plant operation
-
Monitoring, sampling and analysis of radioactive constituents in environmental media and exposure pathways around the plant
-
Radiological assessment associated with plant decommissioning and site release
-
Radiological monitoring aspects associated with new plant construction
EPRI Groundwater Workshop
EPRI Groundwater Protection Workshop Call for Papers
Experience at decommissioning and operating nuclear power plants has shown that leaks and spills from systems and components and work practices have the potential to impact onsite soils and groundwater. License material in soil and groundwater, while not a health or safety issue, must be managed in order to ensure that public and environmental safety is being maintained and to minimize the impact on decommissioning and site release. As the nuclear utilities gain experience in implementing groundwater protection programs, they look for even more innovative technologies for groundwater protection, monitoring, and remediation. Innovative technologies must be technically advanced, be sustainable and energy efficient, and be cost effective, while continuing to provide assurance that the site groundwater is being protected.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Nuclear power industry professionals responsible for and/or interested in groundwater monitoring and remediation experiences and technologies.
