The 2012 U.S. Women in Nuclear conference is ideal for individuals working in any aspect of nuclear energy, science and technology throughout the United States. The conference provides perspectives from national authorities on key issues, as well as ample professional development opportunities for attendees. About U.S. WIN

Registration will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 15, and remain open during conference hours.Conference sessions will be held at the following times:
Monday 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Tuesday 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
Continental breakfast will be provided on Monday and Tuesday at 7 a.m. Lunch will be provided Monday and Tuesday.
U.S. Women in Nuclear will host an opening networking reception Sunday, July 15, 7-8 p.m.
The Special Event will be held from 7–10 p.m. on Monday, July 16. Transportation will be provided.
The conference adjourns at 5 p.m. Tuesday. A informal wine and cheese reception will take place from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday night.
Business casual attire is appropriate for the meeting and all events.

U. S. Women in Nuclear Professional Development Seminar
Wednesday, July 18
Organizational Effectiveness Causal Analysis
8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Cost: $150
This session will provide an overview of effective methods to analyze the organizational causes of events at nuclear facilities. The seminar will explore proven techniques for considering organizational effectiveness, including common cause analysis, the INPO Performance Model, stream analysis for vertical and horizontal drivers/causes, and organizational road mapping. The session will include both instructional guidelines and hands-on activities in the techniques.
This Seminar is co-sponsored by INPO. Tom Kriesel of INPO and Peg Lucky of CENG, LLC, will provide the instruction. A certificate of completion will be issued to all participants.
Technical Tours

Progress Energy Florida
Crystal River Unit 3
8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Cost: $65
Crystal River Unit 3 is owned and operated by Progress Energy. The single-unit, 860-MW Crystal River Nuclear Plant is located near Crystal River, Fla., on a site that also includes four coal-fired generating units that generate 2,311 MW. Crystal River 3 is a pressurized water reactor and has provided safe, clean and affordable nuclear power.
Kennedy Space Center
8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Short of becoming an astronaut, there's no better way to get a glimpse of Kennedy Space Center. Included in the tour is an inside view of the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB). Guests will be able to walk along the Transfer Aisle, used to move elements of rockets among the building's four High Bays, and possibly see a space shuttle orbiter being prepared for display in its new home. Other sites on the tour include the NASA Causeway, Launch Pad A/B Camera Stop and the amazing Apollo/Saturn V Center.
Attendees are limited to two guests, and all guests must be over the age of 12.
Port Canaveral Submarine Tour8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Cost: $65
The U.S. Navy invites Women In Nuclear to Port Canaveral to tour one of its newest fast attack VIRGINIA Class submarines. You will get a ‘behind-the-scenes’ look at how the Navy’s sailors operate and maintain the most formidable Fleet of nuclear-powered submarines on the planet, and apply nuclear energy and fundamentals of engineering in ways that not only help to defend our national security but also serve to better our world.
Guests should not sign up for this tour unless they are in good health. Navy submarines, by their very nature, present certain hazards not normally encountered ashore. These hazards require persons on board to exercise a higher degree of care for their own safety.
U.S. citizenship is required to attend this tour and all required paperwork must be completed prior to departure from the hotel.

LocationThe Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin is located in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., as part of the Walt Disney World complex. Located next to Disney's Boardwalk, the Swan and Dolphin has the unique opportunity to be a great place for meetings as well as a wonderful place to bring the family. Restaurants and shops are only a short walk away and many of the other amenities Walt Disney World is famous are a short ride away.
