NEI Elects Southern Nuclear’s George Hairston Chairman, Progress Energy’s Robert McGehee Vice Chairm
NEW ORLEANS—The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) has elected W. George Hairston III as chairman of its board of directors, effective immediately. Hairston is president and chief executive officer at Southern Nuclear Operating Co.
Robert B. McGehee
, president and chief executive officer at Progress Energy Inc., has been elected vice chairman of the NEI board of directors.
NEI also elected one new member and re-elected two members to its board of directors. Two new members were elected and five members were re-elected to the board’s Executive Committee.
Newly elected to the NEI board of directors is
Dr. Charles W. Pryor Jr.
, president and chief executive officer, Urenco Inc. The re-elected board members are:
Thomas A. Christopher
, president and chief executive officer, AREVA Inc. and Framatome ANP Inc.; and
Stephen R. Tritch
, president and chief executive officer, Westinghouse Electric Co.;
Newly elected members of NEI’s Executive Committee, which sets broad policy for the industry, are:
Dr. Ruth G. Shaw
, president, Duke Power Co.; and
Gary J. Taylor
, chief executive officer, Entergy Operations Inc.
Re-elected to the Executive Committee are:
Thomas A. Christopher
, president and chief executive officer, AREVA Inc. and Framatome ANP Inc.;
Anthony F. Earley Jr.
, chairman and chief executive officer, DTE Energy Co.;
Oliver D. Kingsley Jr.
, president and chief operating officer, Exelon Corp. and president and chief executive officer, Exelon Generation;
Mark F. McGettrick
, president and chief executive officer, generation, Dominion Energy; and
Mayo A. Shattuck III
, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Constellation Energy Group Inc.
All U.S. nuclear power plant licensees and selected representatives of other companies involved in nuclear technologies are members of the NEI board of directors. Members of the board and its Executive Committee typically serve three-year terms, and officers are elected annually.
