Marshall Cohen to Join Nuclear Energy Institute as Senior Director of Legislative Programs

WASHINGTON—Marshall Cohen, a long-time public affairs professional with extensive experience in the energy industry, will join the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) as senior director of legislative programs effective January 15, 2007. Cohen formerly was executive vice president for public affairs and public policy for Louisiana Energy Services (LES), where he was instrumental in helping LES secure a license to build and operate a uranium enrichment facility in New Mexico.

“Marshall’s experience and success in building broad base of support for the LES uranium enrichment plant will be invaluable to the nuclear industry in the years ahead as it moves forward with submitting license applications for new nuclear plants. His extensive knowledge of legislative affairs and public policy issues will be an asset to NEI in the exciting times to come,” said Alex Flint, NEI’s senior vice president of governmental affairs.

Cohen brings 30 years experience in the public affairs and strategic management to NEI. In his tenure at LES he directed a successful public affairs and grassroots strategy that led to broad public support for building the enrichment facility in Southeast New Mexico.

Cohen also has provided public, political and legislative affairs counseling to other energy-related, health care and legal services industries.
