The next administration must make critical energy policy decisions. Our leaders will need to reduce carbon emissions to slow global warming in a way that enhances our energy security and grows our economy. Nuclear energy already provides more than 70% of our nation’s carbon-free electricity, and energy companies have filed permits to build nearly 20 new reactors to meet our fast-growing electricity needs. We must begin now to build new, clean sources of electricity or face shortages in just a few years. Nuclear energy will help us meet the challenge.
