Nuclear Performance Monthly - January 2010

Highlights:
  • The nuclear industry started the first month of 2010 two percent lower in electricity generation than the same month in 2009. For January 2010, nuclear generation was 72.0 billion kilowatt-hours, compared to 73.5 billion kilowatt-hours in 2009. The average capacity factor for January 2010 was 96.0 percent compared to 98.0 percent in January 2009.
  • Two units, Crystal River 3 and San Onofre 2, are still in refueling outages that began in September 2009. Clinton completed a 25-day refueling outage at the beginning of February, and Hatch 1 and LaSalle 1 are currently in refueling outages.
