Marcus Nichol

Vice President, Nuclear Deployment and Fuel Cycle

Marc Nichol is NEI’s vice president of nuclear deployment and fuel cycle.

Marc is responsible for leading the industry’s efforts to improve the business and regulatory environment for nuclear deployment and the fuel life cycle. His oversight spans the development and licensing of advanced-reactor technologies, as well as the strategic management of fuel supply, used fuel, recycling, and plant decommissioning.

Since joining NEI in 2011, he has held several positions of increasing responsibility, including his most recent role as executive director of new nuclear. A veteran of the nuclear industry with over 25 years of experience, he specializes in integrating complex technical, policy, and regulatory silos to align strategy with execution. He has been instrumental in leading the development of industry frameworks that serve as the foundation for the emerging sector’s global commercialization.

Before joining NEI, he held a variety of leadership roles across the nuclear sector. He served at Duke Energy in used fuel management and operations at the Catawba Nuclear Station, and worked in a variety of roles for Toshiba on the deployment of new nuclear. He also held roles focused on used fuel within the Yucca Mountain Project and at Transnuclear.

Marc earned a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from Purdue University, a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the University of North Carolina.
