Government Affairs Conference

At NEI's Government Affairs Conference (GAC), NEI member government affairs representatives will engage directly with congressional and administration leaders, state and local officials, and third-party organizations through engaging discussions and policy-focused sessions. 

The conference will be held May 28-30, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay in Cambridge, MD. This three-day conference provides timely updates on legislative activity on Capitol Hill, actions underway in the states, and other industry activities and developments.

Beyond policy insights, this event is a prime networking opportunity and a great family getaway in a relaxed setting for NEI members. It includes two receptions and a golf tournament, making it a productive and enjoyable experience for NEI members and their families.

The conference will adjourn after Saturday's general session.

Dress Code: Business casual attire is encouraged for all conference events.

Golf Tournament

The golf tournament will take place at the River Marsh Golf Club, recognized as one of Maryland’s “Best Courses You Can Play” by Golfweek magazine. A boxed lunch will be provided. The golf tournament has an additional fee of $140 which includes 18-holes, golf cart, and driving range access. Gratuities are at the individual’s discretion. Be sure to sign up during registration.

Cambridge, MD

The Cambridge area offers many attractions for all attendees.  Explore Downtown Cambridge with its quaint and historic waterfront district featuring shops, restaurants, and galleries. For outdoor enthusiasts, Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge offers scenic drives, biking and hiking trails, and incredible birding and wildlife viewing. You can also visit the Harriett Tubman Underground National Historical Park & Visitor Center for a powerful, immersive experience exploring Tubman's life and legacy. 

Just 30 minutes from the Hyatt Regency, St. Michael's Island is a picturesque waterfront town perfect for a day trip. Spend the day shopping and strolling the town's boutique shops, enjoy fresh seafood and handcrafted beverages, or take advantage of outdoor adventures like sailing or kayaking. 

There is no formal tour for the conference, allowing you to choose your best adventure!

cancellation policy

A $150 cancellation fee will be applied to all requests on or before May 7. Unfortunately, refunds cannot be provided for cancellations received after May 7. However, we would be pleased to accept a substitute.

Guests

The registration fee includes one guest aged 18 and over, and includes Thursday's reception, Friday's breakfast, reception, and dinner, and Saturday’s breakfast. There is no fee for guests under 18 years old. You can add guests during registration.

Make your reservation before Thursday, May 14, and identify yourself as an NEI attendee to receive the group rate. After May 7, or if the room block sells out, the room rate will be at the discretion of the hotel.

Travel and Transportation

Getting to Cambridge

Traffic on US-50 and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge can be unpredictable—give yourself a buffer. The Hyatt Regency is about a 90-minute drive from Washington, D.C.

Plenty of self-parking is available and is included in hotel reservation.
