NEI's Initial 10 CFR 50.59 Screening Qualification Training is an introductory level course tailored to support instruction needed to perform 10 CFR 50.59 screenings of changes, tests and experiments being considered at your facility.
NEI and Pete LeBlond of LeBlond & Associates have teamed up to offer Initial 10 CFR 50.59 Screening Qualification Training. This introductory level course is being offered in a virtual learning environment and has been tailored to support instruction needed to perform 10 CFR 50.59 screenings.
The course features training on the following topics:
- the relationship between 10 CFR 50.59 and the facility operating license
- 10 CFR 50.59 involvement with commonly used power plant processes, such as corrective action, operability and maintenance
- identifying 10 CFR 50.59 as the applicable NRC regulation for a change, test or experiment
- performing screening activities for changes, tests or experiments using NEI 96-07, revision 1 to determine if a 10 CFR 50.59 evaluation is required.
This course includes an online examination to support the qualification process. A certification of training completion will be awarded after successfully passing the examination.
Due to the nature of this training, attendance is limited to ensure a quality training experience, so register early before seats run out.

Individuals identified by their facility to qualify as 50.59 screeners or others that want to learn more about the 10 CFR 50.59 process, including:
- licensing engineers
- system and design engineers
- licensed operators and operations staff
- procedure writers and reviewers
- maintenance planners
- other station personnel that perform 10 CFR 50.59 screening activities.

Prior to the training, you will receive reminder notifications from Zoom with details on how to join each day of training. Registration includes a link to login for one attendee to access the online platform via their unique email address.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing on or before October 20 will be assessed an administrative fee equal to 10% of the amount paid for registration. Unfortunately, refunds cannot be provided for cancellations received after October 20; however, we would be pleased to accept a substitute.
