Prepare yourself for a career in commercial nuclear energy law by taking NEI’s Nuclear Law 101 for Attorneys. The course provides a high-level, comprehensive overview of the major facets of nuclear energy law and will give you a solid foundation for your detailed legal work. This virtual training course will be conducted over two afternoon sessions and focuses on nuclear regulation, licensing, used fuel management, third-party liability, and more.
You will leave the training with an understanding of the following nuclear legislation, regulations, executive orders, and processes:
- Atomic Energy Act (AEA) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
- 2025 Executive Orders and their impacts
- AEA hearing requirements and NRC’s hearing process
- AEA Sec. 274 federalism provision and the role of the states
- NRC reactor licensing process under 10 CFR Parts 50 and 52
- NRC’s license renewal and amendment processes
- NRC’s decommissioning process
- Regulations and requirements governing the import and export of nuclear materials and technology
- Nuclear Waste Policy Act and related court decisions
- Price-Anderson Act and related court decisions.
Class materials will be made available to support applications for continuing legal education credits.

Cancellation Policy
An administrative fee equal to 10% of the amount paid for registration will be assessed to those who submit cancelation notices in writing on or before February 4, 2026. Unfortunately, refunds cannot be provided for cancelations received after February 4; however, NEI would be pleased to accept a substitute.
