We must preserve nuclear energy to protect the climate, says the Bloomberg editorial board. Citing the growing consensus among climate advocates that nuclear energy is necessary for efforts to decarbonize, a Dec. 31 op-ed encourages more states to implement policies to fairly compensate nuclear plants, like the zero-emissions credit programs in New York, Illinois, New Jersey and Connecticut.
These and other options need to be on the table as the world wakes up to the role nuclear power must play in avoiding a climate catastrophe.
