Preserve Nuclear Plants, Climate, Air Quality

Environmentalists and energy industry leaders must put aside their differences to protect our climate, say the MacArthur Foundation and Exelon Corp. An op-ed, coauthored by MacArthur Foundation President Julia Stasch and Exelon President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Crane, calls both groups out of their corners and details four steps necessary to make effective progress towards decarbonization as soon as possible: limit carbon emissions, deploy renewables rapidly, explore carbon-capture and preserve and use nuclear energy.

Climate advocates must support reasonable policies, like those adopted in Illinois, New York and New Jersey, that allow for the continued operation of the nation’s nuclear plants and increased deployment of new zero-carbon technology.
