WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, the Pennsylvania legislature introduced HB11, which would update the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Act to diversify Pennsylvania’s energy portfolio. The following statement can be attributed to Maria Korsnick, president and CEO at the Nuclear Energy Institute:
“The introduction of HB11 is a critical step toward preserving Pennsylvania’s largest source of clean energy. Including nuclear in the state’s Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards sends a clear message that all carbon-free sources should be valued in the same way. We thank the bill’s sponsors for their work and encourage the legislature to support the ongoing operation of the state’s nuclear plants, representing more than 16,000 jobs and contributing more than $69 million in revenue to communities across the state.”
