NEI Welcomes Appointments to NRC

Washington, D.C. – The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Christopher Hanson to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a term of four years and the reappointment of David Wright for a five-year term. This returns the Commission to a full slate of five members. The following is a statement from Maria Korsnick, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute:

“NEI welcomes the return of a full complement of commissioners at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. We are confident that the agency will continue carrying out its important safety mission while modernizing its approaches to become even more effective.

We congratulate David Wright on his reappointment and look forward to his continued leadership and support of the agency’s transformation efforts at this critical time. We also congratulate Christopher Hanson on his confirmation and look forward to his work at the commission. Mr. Hanson brings a wealth of experience to his new role from his prior work at the Department of Energy and on Capitol Hill.”
