Statement from Maria Korsnick, president and CEO of Nuclear Energy Institute, on the joint industry declaration of support for global nuclear advancement announced during the inaugural Nuclear Energy Summit held in Brussels, Belgium:

"NEI congratulates the Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi on the successful convening of the inaugural Nuclear Energy Summit held in Brussels, Belgium. This landmark event is a significant milestone in a global effort toward a sustainable clean energy future. We commend the assembled world and industry leaders for their dedication to the global advancement of nuclear energy, as demonstrated in today’s joint industry declaration of support, building on the commitments forged at last year's COP28 in Dubai, UAE, and G7 Meeting of Climate, Energy, and Environment Ministers in Sapporo, Japan.

We also recognize the urgency for further actions that will increase the capacity of clean nuclear energy to meet growing global energy demands. Specifically, we emphasize the importance of policy frameworks aimed at mitigating investment risks, fostering a more secure environment for potential investors, thus encouraging increased nuclear innovation.

NEI stands ready to engage with international governments, industry partners and stakeholders to drive progress towards our shared goals. Together, we can unlock the full potential of nuclear energy to power a clean and resilient future for generations to come."
