The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Matthew Marzano to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, bringing the agency to its full complement of five commissioners. The following is a statement from Maria Korsnick, president and chief executive officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute:

“We congratulate Matthew Marzano on his appointment to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Mr. Marzano will serve a key role as the NRC continues its critical work of ensuring the safe deployment and operation of nuclear technologies. His appointment comes at a pivotal time, as the NRC works to realize significant efficiencies through the implementation of the bipartisan and bicameral ADVANCE Act, modernize its regulatory processes, and support innovation in next-generation nuclear power.

A fully staffed commission is essential to achieving these goals, and we are pleased to see the NRC operating at its full capacity with five commissioners. NEI and its members remain committed to engaging with the NRC to advance an efficient regulatory framework that supports the growth of nuclear energy as a cornerstone of our clean energy future. Together, we can ensure nuclear energy continues to deliver the reliable, clean power our nation depends on."
