Let’s start off with a game (and I promise it won’t be as difficult as today’s Wordle).
Fill in the blank. I’ll give you three guesses.
______ Makes It Happen
______ Makes It Happen
Okay last guess…
______ Makes It Happen
And the winning answer is…drum roll…. Nuclear Makes It Happen.
That’s the name of NEI’s new brand campaign, encouraging us to reflect on our everyday activities and future aspirations. Nuclear Makes It Happen urges people to think about nuclear energy as an active part of their daily lives.
So, when we think about entire sectors like manufacturing and computing becoming more efficient, or amazing innovations making the impossible possible…these things don’t just happen their own—nuclear energy is the invisible force that makes it happen.
A simple idea with big impacts. The “it” stands for so many things. And depending on your perspectives and your everyday life, “it” can mean anything from having a full battery on your cell phone so you can check trending memes, to getting medical patients the care they need, to driving reliable energy for computing and AI platforms that are making our lives easier.
The multi-year campaign is part of a growing effort to bring more curiosity around nuclear energy while also showing the full ability of nuclear to power every single part of our lives. The campaign aims to position nuclear in our minds beyond what typically comes up in our (nuclear-powered) Google searches.
The Nuclear Makes It Happen story begins with Nonna’s Meatballs, where viewers get a look at how nuclear energy is powering communities, family dinners, our phones, and viral recipes. But it doesn’t stop there—viewers will see how powering our lives with nuclear in the smallest ways really adds up to bigger impacts—making our air cleaner, our lives easier, and our dreams possible.
NEI is bringing Nonna’s Meatballs to the screen at a time when support for nuclear is at a near record high. A recent Gallup poll showed that 6 out of 10 Americans support nuclear—up 6 points to 61%, bringing opposition down by 9 points since 2023.
This is all happening as nuclear is becoming more of a household name. Big tech companies that we all know and use—think Google, Amazon and Microsoft— have partnered with the industry to bring nuclear technologies to their businesses. They see nuclear as a pathway to lowering emissions and ensuring reliable energy supply we need for the unprecedented energy demand we will see over the next few decades.
