WASHINGTON, D.C.–Today, the Ohio legislature introduced HB 6, which would create the Ohio Clean Air Program and provide clean energy credits to zero-emission power producers, including the state's two nuclear plants.

The following statement can be attributed to Maria Korsnick, president and chief executive officer at the Nuclear Energy Institute:

“With the introduction of the Ohio Clean Air Program, Ohio can protect its largest clean energy source. Ohio’s nuclear plants are an economic driver for the Buckeye state, supporting more than 4,300 jobs and contributing $30 million to support schools, roads and first responder services. Without legislative action, Ohio will lose permanently a reliable, resilient and emissions-free source of energy. The Ohio legislature can take a leadership role alongside New York, Illinois, Connecticut and New Jersey and pass the Ohio Clean Air Program to protect its clean air, well-paying jobs, local communities and reliable carbon-free energy.”
