NEI Elects Members to Board of Directors and Executive Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, the Nuclear Energy Institute’s board of directors elected four new members: Paul Chodak III, executive vice president of generation at American Electric Power, David A. Howell, president of Americas Operating Plant Services at Westinghouse Electric Co., Martin J. Lyons, president of Ameren Missouri and J. Clay Sell, chief executive officer of X-energy. Thomas J. Kent, president and chief executive officer of Nebraska Public Power District was appointed to the board as of May 1 replacing retiring President and Chief Executive Officer Patrick L. Pope.  They join nine members who were re-elected to the board, the governing body that sets broad policy for the industry.

Mr. Chodak and Mr. Howell also were elected to the board’s executive committee, joining six members who were re-elected. The elections took place on May 20, 2020, during the organization’s board of directors meeting.

Re-elected to the executive committee are:

  • W. Paul Bowers — Georgia Power, chairman, president and chief executive officer
  • Thomas P. D’Agostino — Fluor Corporation, group president, government
  • Ben Fowke — Xcel Energy, chairman and chief executive officer
  • John L. Hopkins — NuScale Power, chairman and chief executive officer
  • Gary M. Mignogna — Framatome Inc., president and chief executive officer
  • Barbara Rusinko — Bechtel Nuclear, Security and Environmental, president

Re-elected to the board of directors are:

  • Michael P. Cass — American Nuclear Insurers, president and chief executive officer
  • Greg J. Hempfling — Curtiss-Wright, senior vice president and general manager
  • Michael P. McMahon — Day & Zimmermann, president
  • Mark McManus — United Association, general president
  • Mark T. Peters — Idaho National Laboratory, laboratory director
  • Kenneth W. Robuck — EnergySolutions, president, decommissioning and disposal
  • Barbara Rusinko — Bechtel Nuclear, Security and Environmental, president
  • Kathryn M. Sutton — Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, partner
  • Thomas R. White — Sargent & Lundy, chairman, president and chief executive officer

The NEI board of directors is composed of executives from companies that hold licenses to operate nuclear energy facilities and selected representatives of other companies involved in commercial nuclear technologies. Members of the executive committee and the board’s non-utility members typically serve three-year terms, and officers are elected annually.
