Senate Confirms Menezes as Energy Deputy Secretary

Press Statement

Washington, D.C. – The Senate voted today to confirm Mark Menezes as deputy secretary of the Department of Energy. Prior to this confirmation, Menezes served as undersecretary. Menezes now assumes the post previously held by Dan Brouillette, who was named energy secretary last year. The following statement can be attributed to Maria Korsnick, president and chief executive officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute:

“We applaud the Senate's confirmation of Mark Menezes as the deputy secretary at the Department of Energy. His new role gives him expanded authority to continue his leadership on issues that help ensure the future of America’s nuclear energy sector. We look forward to continuing to work together to reinvigorate nuclear energy domestically and demonstrate U.S. nuclear technology leadership abroad.”
