House Ways and Means Committee Releases Budget Reconciliation Text

Press Statement
Governmental Affairs and Policy
Statement from Michael Flannigan, vice president of governmental affairs at the Nuclear Energy Institute, on the recently released draft budget reconciliation text from the House Ways and Means Committee:

“We recognize the challenge before the Committee, however the budget reconciliation text released by the House Ways and Means Committee for markup phases out much needed support to preserve existing nuclear generation and usher in next-gen nuclear technologies. Underlying conditions in the market have not changed and nuclear energy is not appropriately valued for its ability to provide reliable, secure, and affordable energy to an increasingly clean electric grid. Until the markets change, we need policies like the tax credits, transferability and elective payment to power our economy, keep our grid reliable, and win the AI race.

“The nuclear industry will continue to work with both chambers to ensure the final language supports the nuclear energy priorities of this Congress and Administration.”
