WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Senate has confirmed the re-appointment of Douglas Weaver to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for another term, keeping the agency at its full complement of five commissioners. The following is a statement from Maria Korsnick, president and chief executive officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute:
"NEI congratulates Douglas Weaver on his confirmation to serve a new term on the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Commissioner Weaver brings a remarkable record of over three decades of nuclear energy experience, including nearly two decades in senior roles on the NRC staff. We look forward to continuing to work with Commissioner Weaver and are confident his experience will continue to benefit the Commission as the agency modernizes its regulatory framework, bringing greater speed and efficiency, while maintaining the NRC’s rigorous safety standards."
