NEI Welcomes Appointments to NRC

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Christopher Hanson to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for a term of four years, and the reappointment of David Wright for a five-year term.

Today, the Nuclear Energy Institute’s board of directors elected four new members: Paul Chodak III, executive vice president of generation at American Electric Power, David A. Howell, president of Americas Operating Plant Services at Westinghouse Electric Co., Martin J. Lyons, president of Ameren Missouri and J. Clay Sell, chief executive officer of X-energy.

On May 14, the U.S. Department of Energy issued a funding opportunity announcement for the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program. This program will create partnerships between DOE and private industry and provide funding to develop and build advanced reactors.
