The following statement can be attributed to Maria Korsnick, president and chief executive officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute:
“Today Congress once again demonstrated bipartisan support for advanced nuclear energy technologies. The National Defense Authorization Act for 2022 includes important funding and other provisions that will help the U.S. military meet important resilience and energy performance goals. With its passage, Congress recognized the important role advanced nuclear will play in protecting our national security while helping meet our climate goals. The work done by the Department of Defense to deploy microreactors will have far-reaching implications by helping advance these new technologies into commercialization.”
