Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Senate has confirmed the appointment of Annie Caputo and Bradley Crowell to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). This returns the Commission to a full slate of five members. The following is a statement from Maria Korsnick, president and chief executive officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI):
“NEI welcomes the return of a full complement of commissioners at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. We are confident that the agency will continue carrying out its important safety mission while modernizing its approaches to become even more effective as we meet the growing demand for carbon-free nuclear energy.
“We congratulate Annie Caputo on her return to the NRC and look forward to her continued leadership and support of the agency’s modernization efforts at this critical time. We also congratulate Bradley Crowell on his confirmation and look forward to his work at the Commission. Mr. Crowell brings a wealth of energy and environmental experience to his new role from his prior work at the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Department of Energy.”
