WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) announces additions to its Board of Directors and Executive Committee. The elections took place during the organization’s Board of Directors meeting on January 22, 2026.
New to the Board of Directors:
- Chuck Kharrl, president, CEO and chief nuclear officer, STP Nuclear Operating Company (joined by role)
Newly elected to both the Board of Directors and Executive Committee:
- Dan Sumner, interim CEO, Westinghouse Electric Company
Newly elected to the Board of Directors:
- Jason Dunaway, president, maintenance and operations, Day & Zimmermann
- Mike Rinehart, president, Kiewit Nuclear Solutions
NEI congratulates the new directors and welcomes the experience, leadership, and insight they bring as the organization advances its work on behalf of the U.S. commercial nuclear energy industry.
The NEI Board of Directors is composed of leaders from companies that hold licenses to operate nuclear energy facilities and representatives from other companies involved in commercial nuclear technologies. Members of the Executive Committee are selected from the NEI Board of Directors.
