NEI Elects Members to Board of Directors and Executive Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) announces the election of several members to its Board of Directors and Executive Committee. The elections took place on May 15, 2023, during the organization’s Board of Directors meeting. 

Newly elected to both the Board of Directors and Executive Committee are: 

  • Chris Bakken, executive vice president of infrastructure, Entergy Corp. 

  • Louis Renjel, senior vice president of external affairs and communications, Duke Energy 

  • Peter Sena, president, Southern Nuclear 

  • Katherine Williams, incoming CEO of Framatome Inc., who currently serves as the senior vice president and CFO, and will assume the role of CEO on July 1, 2023. 

Newly elected to the Board of Directors only are: 

  • Sumeet Singh, COO and executive vice president of operations, Pacific Gas and Electric Company 

  • Rex Geveden, president and CEO, BWX Technologies, Inc. 

Singh and Geveden join 11 board members who were re-elected for another three-year term. Those re-elected are: 

  • Patrick Fragman, president and CEO, Westinghouse Electric Company 

  • Greg Hempfling, senior vice president and general manager, Curtiss-Wright 

  • John Howanitz, president, Bechtel Nuclear, Security and Environmental 

  • John McCormick, president, D&Z Maintenance & Construction Group, Day & Zimmermann 

  • Mark McManus, general president, United Association 

  • Andrew Pinkowski, president and CEO, American Nuclear Insurers 

  • Kenneth Robuck, president and CEO, EnergySolutions 

  • Clay Sell, CEO, X-energy 

  • Jay Silberg, partner, Energy Group, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman 

  • Victor Suchodolski, chairman, president and CEO, Sargent & Lundy 

  • John Wagner, director, Idaho National Laboratory 

During the board meeting, NEI also ratified the election of Jim Burke, president and CEO of Vistra Corp., to its Executive Committee. He joins five members who were re-elected: 

  • Paul Chodak, executive vice president of generation, American Electric Power 

  • Tom D’Agostino, group president of government, Fluor Corporation 

  • Bob Frenzel, chairman, president and CEO, Xcel Energy 

  • John Hopkins, president and CEO, NuScale Power 

  • John Howanitz, president, Bechtel Nuclear, Security and Environmental 

The NEI Board of Directors is composed of executives from companies that hold licenses to operate nuclear energy facilities and selected representatives of other companies involved in commercial nuclear technologies. Members of the Executive Committee are selected from the NEI Board of Directors and serve three-year terms, unless filling a vacancy.
