WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) announces the addition of two members to its Board of Directors.
Mac McFarland, president and chief executive officer of Talen Energy Corporation (Talen), recently joined NEI’s Board as Talen’s representative. Mr. McFarland took on his current role at Talen in May 2023 and concurrently joined the company’s Board. In this capacity, he oversees all aspects of Talen’s long-term strategy and overall performance including leadership of its wholesale power generation business, commercial operations, and its Cumulus growth businesses. Mr. McFarland also serves on the Board of California Resources Corporation (CRC) and chairs Carbon TerraVault, a wholly owned subsidiary of CRC.
Newly elected to NEI’s Board following its October 17, 2023, meeting is Pierre Oneid, senior vice president of domestic nuclear programs, at Holtec International. He also serves as president of Holtec MENA and is a member of Holtec’s Executive Committee. Mr. Oneid is a professional engineer with over 42 years of experience in the nuclear industry, including expertise in mechanical and structural design, business development, and executive leadership.
The NEI Board of Directors is composed of executives from companies that hold licenses to operate nuclear energy facilities and selected representatives of other companies involved in commercial nuclear technologies.
