WASHINGTON, D.C.— The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) today announced the election of Mike Skaggs, interim president and CEO of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), to its Executive Committee. Mr. Skaggs joined the NEI Board of Directors on April 27, 2026.
Mr. Skaggs was named TVA’s interim president and CEO in April 2026. Throughout more than 40 years in the utility industry, he has held leadership positions across nuclear construction, operations and power generation.
During his more than 25-year career at TVA, Mr. Skaggs has served in a variety of leadership roles at each of the utility’s three operating nuclear plants. His extensive experience includes overseeing the completion, startup and power ascension testing of Watts Bar Nuclear Plant Unit 2, as well as work supporting the recovery of Browns Ferry Unit 1 and major steam generator replacement projects. A registered professional engineer, Mr. Skaggs holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University and earned a senior reactor certification at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant.
NEI congratulates Mr. Skaggs on his election to the Executive Committee. His decades of leadership and deep experience across nuclear operations and generation make him a valuable addition to the committee as our industry works to meet rapidly growing demand for clean, reliable energy.
Members of the NEI Executive Committee are selected from the NEI Board of Directors and serve three-year terms, unless filling a vacancy.
